ROGER is a research day centered on the topics of (1) surface and underwater drones and (2) underwater image processing. The two topics are highly linked together as nowadays, surface and underwater drones serve as the primary platforms for capturing underwater images. Nevertheless, the raw visual data collected by drones typically suffers from problems related to underwater environments such as: light absorption and scattering, color distortion, and low contrast and poor visibility conditions. In addition, we also have to consider the motion blur due to water currents or vehicle movement. Embedding image processing algorithms directly into both surface and underwater drones is becoming essential. It allows us to improve the input data quality for real-time decision making tasks such as obstacle avoidance, path adaptation, and detection of important objects such as pipelines, wrecks, and biological species.
This event aims to bring together researchers from several universities (UBS, ENIB, ISEN, IMT Atlantique, Univ. of Split, UBO) and research units (Ifremer, IUEM, Lab-STICC). This event is organized by the SEA-EU project ROV-Operate members (http://beru.univ-brest.fr/rov-operate).

- The recommended duration of a normal presentation slot is 15 minutes for the presentation and 5-10 minutes for the follow-up discussion.

- Your name, affiliation, contact info;
- The title of your talk with a short description;
- Indicate whether you will be presenting online or in person;
- Potentially pointers to more information if needed.
A post-event summary will be published as a technical report co-authored by all presenters.
Event Participants
The event is open to anyone that want to present research projects related to the two main topics or simply participate in the discussion. The main objectives of this event is to foster new collaborations amongst all the participants.
Registration is free but mandatory. We welcome both in-person and remote participants. Registration form is available HERE .
We recommend that in-person participants register by June 1, 2025, and online participants register by June 3, 2025
Event organizers will also invite potential participants that are known to be active in the two main topics.
